An Open Letter to Comedy by A Comedian:

Dear Reader, This isnât going to be easy for a lot of people to hear, but I need to get this off my chest so we can move forward. Iâm hearing a lot of things in the comedy world that are negative, downright offensive and borderline hate speech. Mostly directed at me, a real comedian.

This very fun show, IMBG, is returning to Schuba’s Upstairs Lounge on Thursday February 7th. This is a game show I host where we watch a truly shitty movie with a panel of hand picked comics (This lineup features Bill Cruz, Liza Treyger, and Joe Fernandez). Everyone makes fun of the movie, and prizes are won. It’s sponsored by saki records, so we’ll be giving away records and gift certificates to their store. Show starts at 8.

A couple weeks ago Hurricane Sandy completely destroyed the home of my aunt, uncle and two cousins. There’s a picture of what it did to their place up there. I’m putting on a benefit show to help raise some money for them on November 16th at saki records . saki is kind of my comedy home lately, and the people there have been incredible with helping me out, and they are really good at putting on fun shows.

Revolutions Per Minute:

So, starting a podcast seemed like the thing to do, so I did it. It’s pretty likely that I’m late to the game on this, but if you think about it in terms of the lifespan of the universe, I’m actually very early.

This was an idea thought up by myself and Nick Rouley, a regular comedic collaborator and friend of mine. We often stay up late, drink beer and talk about music. We can do it for hours. So we decided to record that and have guests join in sometimes and we try to be funny (sometimes).

Our first episode is here. We talk about some of our favorite albums.

The next episode, I actually prefer. Check that one out here (or by clicking the title of this post). In the second episode we talk Halloween music with our guest Maggie Iwanicki. She’s a musician in Chicago, and good person.

We’ll be on iTunes and Stitcher very soon. I’ll make a post here when it’s available for subscription. You can expect these to be coming out on a weekly basis.

I’m very excited to be hosting a new show called The International Movie Betting Game that will hopefully become a regular thing. Here’s the run down:

We watch a really bad rock n roll themed movie and periodically pause it to ask questions to our two contestants about what they think will happen next.

The contestants wager points on each question and the person with the highest score wins prizes donated by saki records.

There’s also a panel of comedians to make light of the movie and all the work that went into making it so shitty. We have Cullen Crawford, Katie McVay, Bill Cruz, and Chad Briggs. They’re all some of my favorite comics in the city.

It’s free and it’s this Thursday at Schuba’s. Also this great poster was designed by Tim Giuliani.

The third episode of The Joe McAdam Show, made for bentwork.com. This was actually the first one I recorded based on a sketch Nick Rouley and I did at Creative Control. We didn’t have proper sound equipment and it sounds pretty rough. Think of it like a demo, or a lost episode of a show that you never heard of.
